Roederer Estate Anderson Valley Brut
I recently visited this gorgeous property in the Anderson Valley, a beautiful viticultural area inland from the coastal paradise of Mendocino. Yes, it is owned by the same house of Louis Roederer that makes the famous Cristal. This could be California's best sparkling wine, and not surprising, very close to its brethren in Champagne. It has tiny pinpoint bubbles, a little fresh-baked bread dough in the nose, and delightful spicey pear fruit with a hint of hazelnuts. Great with sushi, and for small, or large, celebrations.
Wine Enthusiast
This is an absolutely first-rate bubbly, dry, smooth and rich. Has complex flavors of peaches, limes and strawberries, accented by doughy yeast and smoky flavors. Really defines the balanced elegance and pedigree you want in a great sparkler.
Score: 92.
